What does the future of medicine look like? What’s trending? What’s new in health science? Which challanges is the health system facing?

About 50 top scientists from leading Berlin institutions and international partners present cuttingedge translational medicine in short 3-minute presentations.  This year’s focus: ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN TRANSLATIONAL MEDICINE

AI and Basic Medical Research

Chair: Dr. Roland Schwarz, Group Leader Evolutionary and Cancer Genomics, Berlin Institute for Medical Systems Biology (BIMSB), Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in the Helmholtz Association (MDC) – “With genetic sequencing, single cell analysis or the investigation of metabolic processes, the modern life sciences generate incredible amounts of data every day: Artificial intelligence helps to gain knowledge from this data.”

AI and Decision Making in Medicine

Chair: Prof. Petra Ritter, Johanna Quandt Professor for Brain Simulation, Berlin Institute of Health (BIH) and Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin  – “What are the latest achievements for AI in clinical decision making? We will cover recent developments: from novel algorithms to processing sensitive data and related ethical and legal questions.”

AI and SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19

Chair: Prof. Sylvia Thun, Director Core Unit eHealth and Interoperability (CEI), Berlin Institute of Health (BIH) and Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin – “AI can build an intelligent platform for monitoring and prediction of the spread of this virus. Beside that AI can help to fight against COVID-19 by early detection and diagnosis of the infection, delivering information about drug research, pharmacologic treatment, vaccines development and prevention of the disease. How can your algorithm overcome the COVID crisis?”
